Since October 2023, Israeli occupation attacks in Gaza have killed 142 journalists. Most of them were targeted drone strikes that tracked the journalists' cellphone signals.
of course this number does not include all the attacks on Journalists who survived but sustained heavy to mild injuries.
Keeping in mind that Israel's Targeting Journalists is nothing news. It is systematic and have not stopped regardless of which Israeli party was elected. it is well documented, reported and condemned. Yet when Push comes to shove Israeli government and it's soldiers never paid the price of these war crimes.
Israeli soldiers did rarely face any consequences for of these war crimes indeed committed in front of national and international cameras.
On May 11, 2022, an Israeli soldier shot and killed Shireen Abu Akleh, a female christian journalist with dual Palestinian-American citizenship who worked for the Al Jazeera network. Abu Akleh was highly respected throughout the Arab world for her 25-year coverage of the Palestinian Genocide. She was killed in the line of duty while covering an Israeli raid in the occupied Jenin Camp.
And like that was not enough, additional footage shows the Israeli soldiers storming the hospital where her slain body was held and later that day the Israeli soldiers attack the funeral of her, beating the people carrying her coffin. This violent assault caused the coffin to sway wildly, with those bearing it struggling to maintain their grip while enduring strikes to their bodies.
Israel should not be allowed to continue to launch it's death campaign against journalism with full impunity and therefore we at the Children of Amalek demand the reinforcement of international laws and protocols related to the protection of journalists in conflict zones, ensuring prevention and punishment of such direct attacks on the principles of free and fair journalism. The international community must act decisively to ensure justice for the victims and protection for those who risk their lives to bring us the truth.
